10 YEARS OF H4D
A Decade of Civic-Driven Defense Innovation
2025 marks the 10-year milestone of our flagship program, Hacking for Defense (H4D)—the launchpad for a new era of public-purpose innovation. Since its inception by Steve Blank and Pete Newell in 2016, H4D has proven what happens when students are given mission-driven problems, entrepreneurial tools, and the mandate to move fast: they solve problems no one else can see yet.
H4D is more than a course. It’s a movement that has redefined how America sources, develops, and transitions cutting-edge technologies—making national interest innovation accessible, agile, and inclusive.
